Archdiocese Mass in support of LGBTQ+ Catholics

The Archdiocese of Liverpool has organised Mass in support of LGBTQ+ Catholics and their families in various parishes throughout the diocese.

For the past year, Holly and other members of the LGBTQ+ community within our parish have met as part of a social and support group in our Sr. Elizabeth Kelly Room.

We were therefore delighted that, for the first time, we were asked to host the celebration of Mass followed by refreshments on Sunday the 16th April at 2 pm.
This was an open invitation to our LGBTQ+ Catholics, their families and friends but also to anyone who wanted to come along. It was a beautiful Mass and we were grateful to Fr. Steve Maloney for celebrating for us and to Holly and Ellie and all those involved in making it possible.

Fr. Steve shared with us the story of the homemade cross that travels with him.

Please see the images for an explanation of this beautiful cross. At the sign of peace we were each gifted with a small handmade cross, a symbol of our unity as members or allies of the LGBTQ+ community.
It was great to be able to gather together socially afterwards.

Anyone who would like to join the LGBTQ+ support group that meets every 3rd Sunday of the month in the parish meeting room, please feel free to get in touch to find out more.
