Update on Mass Times

Following a time of discernment, the Parish Council has decided that from now on we will continue to celebrate with one Sunday Mass at 10: 30 am rather than returning to two in the summer months.

This decision, agreed at our Parish Council meeting on Sunday 11th  January, was made after thoughtfully considering varying opinions. We acknowledge that this is a potentially upsetting decision for those valued members of our community who have favoured the early Mass, but it is a decision rooted in pastoral concern and in our desire to best serve the needs of our parish community.
Over recent months, it has become clear that gathering as one community at a single 10:30 am Sunday Mass has strengthened our sense of belonging and shared worship. This Mass time allows greater participation from parishioners of all ages, and the joining of the two masses has created a more vibrant and inclusive celebration. It also enables us to build community beyond the liturgy itself, including the opportunity to grow our tea club, which many have said is an important and valued part of parish life.
While practical and financial considerations were part of our discussions, the primary focus has been what is pastorally appropriate and life-giving for our parish. We are grateful for the quiet and reflective character that the 9 am  Mass offered, and we note that those seeking a more meditative celebration continue to have the option of the 5:30 pm Saturday evening Mass.
We thank everyone for their understanding, prayer, and ongoing commitment to our parish, and we look forward to continuing to grow together as one community.
